Couldn't be happier

Featured Replies

So took delivery of my Octavia Vrs TDI DSG a few days ago and so far couldn't be happier!!

The build quality and materials feel top notch, the ride I'd say is just about spot on being a perfect compromise between sporty and a comfortable family car.

Mostly had the car in 'eco' today and just cruised around :-)

Really like the way the car is happy to be driven as a comfortable solid family car then when the mood takes you simply drop it into 'sport' and it becomes a real well sorted sports saloon that I'm sure is plenty more than quick enough than I'd ever really need it to be!

Especially love how the car is turning heads and seeing people double take it as they walk past it is great!!

As far as I'm concerned at the moment I couldn't have made a better choice of car for my needs as it is ticking every single box I had.

Fuel wise at the moment I'm seeing 45mpg but have had a little fun in it as well as sat in traffic and town driving so considering it's a 184bhp automatic car that's only covered 250 miles so far I don't think that's bad going.

Doubtless a couple of niggles may appear but so far! What a car for the money!! :-) :-)

Glad you're enjoying it - as you say always going to be a few niggles at some point (and i guess the type of people we are here mean we are particularly tuned into them!)

Had my (company) vRS a year this week and 35k miles and still love it. As with any car you do get used to the relative power but when this happens (and you urge for more) ts good to run it in eco for a while to dull your thoughts of booting it and then enjoy the rebound power (well throttle response - power is the same) a few days later! The mpg should improve, but i also put some of my trips when i get poor mpg down to not actually noticing how quick you are going as it does cruise at speed well.

The other thing i was pleasantly surprised with was how well the car goes/rides when fully loaded, almost sits better - we did approx 2000 mile round trip with our 3yr and 6 month olds gear (plus the wifes make-up  :giggle: ) without any trouble at all.

I'm still in a good place after 15 months! I drive a lot of hire cars and there's nothing like coming back to the VRS - quickish, comfortable, practical - as you say there are few better compromises. I do a few late night drives out of London to the country to visit relatives loaded up with family and stuff and it's ability to cosset and eat miles at the same time is brilliant. With the auto lights, lane assist, stability and plenty of power it's just excellent. I'll never get tired of the sound (whether assisted or not) flooring the throttle and going through the Rev range... :-)

Like London Les, I'm still in a good place after 24 months, very happy.
