Just had my wheels off and noticed alot of brown grease on the outside of the rear wheel hub nut...Is this normal..None of the other wheels have grease on outside.

Is this the polo in your profile? which year?

I'd expect item 6 to be fitted to both rears, as shown here (for a 2003).

I'd agree with Wino in #4 that you're missing a nut cover. If you can't find them any other way, you can make one that will do the job from a piece of kitchen foil spread and folded over the ring on part 10 in the illustration.

Its an 05 fabia vrs..Should they be on all four wheels or just the rears? I'll buy some...Should there be grease in there as this is the only one with grease in also.

Wino can you let me know if its the same part number for the fabia vrs and if I need them for the front and I'll try and find some.

Thanks

Item 6 is a dust cover, which keeps the grease in the bearing, and the dust out of it. That's how it was so easy to diagnose that it was missing.

Should they be on all 4 wheels or just the rears?? Should it be packed with grease then as the other side is clean??

Same part for your car by the looks of this page. 1J0501249C. Rears only.  Yes, should be grease, not sure how much though.

thanks for your help mate.

My pleasure. Should get a good price if you click on the link at the top of the page "SKODA Car Parts" and email [email protected] with the part number you need (include your reg number and description of what you need just in case I've given you the wrong part number, but I'm fairly confident).

Cheers mate..Just phoned local stealer and is £2.94 prob as cheap to go there as with postage I doubt there will be much saving.

  • 3 weeks later...

There should be caps on the rear only, someone's packed them with grease by the looks of it.

Caps now fitted should there not have been grease in there then...I put a bit in as was not sure.
