Octavia II rear auto-leveling sensor problem

Featured Replies

Hi all,

The turnbuckle which connects the suspension to the rear-auto leveling sensor has corroded and snapped on my Octavia II, so the headlights no longer level correctly if the boot is loaded.  Can anyone confirm whether this ebay part will fit: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-Xenon-Reparatursatz-Koppelstange-Niveausensor-M6-VW-Audi-Skoda-SEAT-/252211310991?hash=item3ab8f7318f:g:bzsAAOSwcOFWbVeh ?

Or, can anyone confirm the distance between the mounting eyes?  (appears to be 130mm for the ebay parts.)

Thanks in advance,

Darren.

Is it the actual mounting point on the car that has failed, rather than the sensor itself?

Looking at the parts on the eBay listing it looks to be threaded onto the mount / bracket?

Looking at this picture the bracket / mount is screwed / bolted on? This image is from a MkII Octavia...

This happened on mine. I ended buying a new level sensor as the metal arm was all part of the unit. Cost about 100 quid.

I'd forgotten I'd posted this. Anyway, I've since seen that some of the sensors have an integrated metal arm rather than the separate turnbuckle.

In my case it is definitely the turnbuckle which broke - the mount is still intact.  My plan is to replace the turnbuckle with an equivalent with the same distance between the mounting eyes, so it will act as it did before it broke.

Could someone with a MkII Octavia and the turnbuckle (as in silver1011's photo) measure the distance between the mounting eyes please?

The exact length doesn't matter as long as you carry out the basic settings via VCDS after fixing it. From when I added both front and rear sensors to my car I think the lengths were pretty similar.

Personally, I'd be tempted to replace the entire thing. I think the part number is 1K0941273N (at least on the FL) which can be had for ~£47 http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Xenon-Headlights-Leveling-Sensor-For-VW-2012-Jetta-6-Passat-B6-B7-1K0-941-273-N/32400237672.html

You could also try taking a cheaper £25 front sensor and removing that part you need http://www.aliexpress.com/item/VW-OEM-Front-Headlights-Horizontal-Position-Sensor-For-VW-Golf-6-GTI-Passat-CC-Tiguan-1T0/32361567658.html
