fabia vrs tdi

Featured Replies

Hi i m about to pick up a fabia 1.9 tdi tomorrow as my seat ibiza 1.9 tdi sport has too much corrosion to make it a worthwhile runner. Can anyone tell me what parts i could salvage off of my ibiza to fit to my Fabia. ibiza is a 130 bhp sport same year as the Fabia 2003.

As spares or as improvements?

Depends on year of Ibiza, long ratio box if it's got it. Lots of parts go across from one till other so I'd check what parts the Fabia needs.

engine and gearbox with ecu and loom etc.

Is the turbo the same too? That may be a worthwhile swap. Again, if interchangeable, the boost pipes and clips, and the brakes.

as said, it just depends what your after.

pretty much everything fromt he ibiza will fit the fabia.

Wheels, hubs, brakes, wishbones, interior seats, steering wheel, the full engine should be the same just depends on spec.. 100bhp vs 130bhp,

Might help to remember that the Ibiza kit is similar to that from a fabia VRS. You could look for threads where people use odd vrs bits to upgrade the 100hp engine.

If you keep all the bits together you have a 100 hp (fabia) and a 130 hp (ibiza) engine but when you mix them up - who knows how it will work out.

I would be tempted to move the whole lot inc. gearbox or... nothing at all.

If its a pd130 Ibiza and pd100 Fabia, you just need to swap turbo and injectors to make it a PD130 fabia, no need for the full engine and gearbox.

Thanks for the suggestions guys , think I ll stick with Fabia engine as its done 80k less than Ibiza one. Missin me sixth gear tho !!!

I'd keep the 6 speed box though myself, that extra gear for cruising is lovely. Power steering pump is a big cost if it fails on the Fabia so see if that is swappable, for spares. VAC box as another costly part to replace. Generally keep as much as you have space for that is swappable. Mileage generally doesn't indicate better unfortunately.
