Can't get off the line quick enough.

Featured Replies

Hi guys just asking your opinion went to Crail when it was on and race an Ibiza bocanegra. Planted the right pedal and it just seamed unresponive traction was off and was in manual shift. Yet the Ibiza had left was wondering if if feathering the pedal was better or planting it for POWER!

It'll be the white paint

Did you break traction on launch? If not, then you may not have revved the engine hard enough.

Wheb you say 'unresponsive', was it just spinning up the wheels and not going anywhere?

If so.. Keeping traction and progressively giving it more and more throttle should be quicker.

It'll be the white paint

well known, red is a much faster colour :), especially if it has go faster stripes as well :)

Well it could be white paint but it's good that most the car is green. And no not spinning the wheels just seamed to take a bit between plNting the pedal and launching yeah ok mabey a few milsecomds.

maybe the computer just getting in abit of a fluster when you prodded it :D

That'll be it, blame the computer - or it could just be because it's Christmas, that tends to slow everything down . . .

better tyres?

eh i dont blame anything, just an idea, seems as their was a delay.

If i want to go, i go. no computers stickin their nose in, no TC, no nothing.. and im not talkin about the HTP lol

My Fabia VRS had a delay from when you took your foot off the brake and pressed the accelerator to when it would actually decided to launch itself forwards, sometimes it would just do it straight away other times it would take what seemed like an eternity, was told this is normal for dsg lol

Raymundo that seams to be the same as what mine is doing thanks for letting me know its normal

Sounds to me, you'd be better off with a Yeti.

:D

:p

Crail isn't the best dragstrip for traction of the line.

Make sure you have your TC turned off and have both your feet on both pedals and lift your left when the lights go to green.

What was your best time?

Actually since its a Twincharger, have TC off,

no foot on the brake, hold it on the hand brake, and floor it in 'D',

(Reduces the delay that Brake/throttle can have on some cars. Point of this thread i think.)

or try to practice in 1st manual, and do not shift manually,

let it be dong its changes to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th its self.

(watch the Santa Pod Videos up in the Pinned Section.)

Maybe remove the Rear Weights that make the front go light.

Good tyres on the front obviously, and they can be wider on the front than on the rear. Maybe 215/40 R 17's.

Maybe take a Pair of Wheels/Tyres with you for the front.

(Or just use what you have for daily use,

I have 215/40 R 17 Front, 205/40 R17 rears.

in the tyres section someone wrongly said that it is illegal 'on the road in the UK', which it is not, as the 2015 Audi RS3 would be illegal as other cars would be straight from the Factory.)

Just Practice starts.

Crail can be faster than the likes of Santa Pod off the line.

Track temp dependent obviously.

See 'apmaman' 's posts for Crail.

PS.

As to Tyres,  plenty of choices available that help with traction,

but the Tyres i just bought for the winter after reading a post by 'sharkrider' are worth buying IMO.

Maxxis AP2 (All Season) in 215/40 R17 @ £81.10 Delivered, http://mytyres.co.uk

they are damn good in the Wet, and i expect they will be good in the Cold.

They are pretty good right now at around 9*oC as well, and might be good at Crail for the strip.

sorry for going off topic, (as I cant seem to send you a PM George! is your inbox full?) but those tyres have been awesome in the wet! never experianced anything like them! driven in some horrendous conditions recently, and they have been the best tyres in the wet I have ever tried (I think they may actually have come first in the test for aquaplaning!) cant wait to try them in winter cold!

Sorry PM's off.

(Congratulations from the good news.)

I also bought, BF Goodrich G-Force Winters and they are also wunderbar.

Maxxis AP2's awesome. & a great price.
