2010 octavia vrs - has it had remap?

Hi,

Recently moved here from 10 years in the seatcupra.net forums! I have just got a 2010 octavia Vrs TDI (facelift).

My friend bought a 2012 model (same spec/engine) the same week and after driving both mine feels very different! It seems to have more boost and much more aggressive. 1st and 2nd gear just wheelspin for fun and after a hard drive the clutch starts slipping like crazy (fine after a good cool down)

So I suspect it's been mapped. I have plugged in VCDS which I had for the Leon. Did a run - 3rd gear 1200rpm to redline. The peak boost was 2601mbar. My understanding is deduct 1000 for atmospheric (showing 980ish in VCDS) and convert for PSI. Problem is, that gives just over 23psi boost!! Seems wrong to me as standard is around 10.

Gonna do the same run I my mates car to compare but won't get chance this week. Anyone any ideas if that figure could be right? I'll post the full csv log shortly

Thanks in advance!!

Its probably Stage 1....perhaps look under the bonnet and see if it has a box on it..may do.

Again this situation is all about plausible deniability.....if you prove its tuned then there are repurcussions with insurance.....if you bought the car without the knowledge should it ever become contentious you can prove you never knew about it (even if you did suspect it).

If you do want to prove it, I guess the only real way to do so will be to take it to a tuner..see if they can access the ECU over ODB and see if its been flashed or get it on the rollers and see what power and torque its pushing...if its way above stock...then you'll know....but you'll have to sort your insurance to reflect the audit trail.

Thanks for the advice guys! I'm very happy with it as it is and did ask when purchased if anything had been modified and they said no. Think I'll just continue been happy drive it!!
