ok my engine warning light has been on for a day since last night. When I start the car tonight to drive home its gone off.... whats the story?

It will go off if the fault hasn't re-ocurred after about 10 strats , I think. The fault would be down graded to being sporadic.

You might want to get it plugged into a diagnostic rig to find out what the fault code it logged was. Sometimes it will only be reported under some conditions and in some cases be reset by turning the ignition on and off.....

After three faults, generally the enigne light appears. After you solved the problem (or there wasn't a real problem) the engine light disappears after three starts.

so does this mean the dealer is telling me porkies when he tells me all the work that needs doing to fix the faults?
