Brake pad warning with new pads fitted

Featured Replies

Had to replace front discs and brake pads. All successfully completed. About 3 weeks afterwards the brake pad warning decided to appear from time to time on the dash. This now happens as soon as the ignition is switched on.

I was going to disconnect the wiring connector at the brake disc assembly on each side and give a good spray of contact cleaner.

Anyone got any other tips or suggestions?

Many thanks.

That seems like the best action to take first.

The sensor is only usually fitted to the N/S pad.

Check the plug that is located on the stut for damage.

The sensor wire may have rubbed against the driveshaft and broken the circuit hence the light on the dash. I had it on my Octavia so cut and trimmed the wires back and shorted them - no more warning light!

I just took my sensor out of my old pads and cut sensor bit off and joined wires then tied them back to strut out of way,

Never get warning light then :notme:

Seconded. Just loop the system - all is then well and one less thing to go wrong.
