Integrating 2Way Speakers Hertz Energy ESK 165L.5

Featured Replies

Heya guys, just registered here, first of all i wish you a Merry Christmas! Glad i found a forum online that owners of different types of Skoda chats and helps each other in different problems. As in the title mine is about these speakers that i have been very eager to get, but somehow i dunno if they are mountable in my front doors without much effort. My car is a Skoda Octavia I from 2006 with 145k km 90HP with ALH motor.

The player i have bought is this Kenwood: http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/car/rec/usb/KDC-461U/

Now i am aiming for the speakers and very indecisive about the dimensions of the speakers, about how to intergate them in the door panel without damaging it or making it possible for the water/moisture to affect the speakers, another beeing the fact that the tweeters are 26mm in diameter.

Here is a link for the speakers: http://www.hertzaudiovideo.com/car-audio-systems-energy-esk165l_5/

What i need is details about these speakers, the player, if the speakers will need modifications in the door panel. Every step needed for me to buy them online and start the procedure to make the music in my car sound epic.

I hope my english is ok, never studied it in school to much, learned it by myself XD

Cheers!

Hello. The front door speakers are the correct size at 16.5cm, but you will find that they are too large at the back to fit in the door.

You can replace the standard speakers, but you need some that aren't very deep and have a small magnet and basket around them.

If you take the grille off with a flat bladed screwdriver you can remove the screws that hold the standard speaker in place and see what I mean. There is a piece of metal that gets in the way, but you can carefully cut that off which may give you the room.

After that, you need to check that the window glass doesn't get in the way.

If the speakers do fit, you can put the crossovers under the dashboard behind the glove box.

The tweeters can be glued in place of the standard ones with a hot glue gun.

I see, thanks for the fast reply Dr. Zoid. Well then i already done that, took the grille off and the speakers and i took some measurements and i have plenty of space in the back with the window all the way down. By my measurements i have like 70mm or so from the ring that holds the speakers to the window. As for the metal thingy yea thats the problem but benting it a little wont do much harm i presume, right? (hope that it wont need more than small benting). the magnet has 85mm in diameter. Was hoping that i could find a DIY on the net or here, or even someone with the same system and same car, but no luck :(.

Any opinions about this system? any other recommendations ?
