Won't start :(

Featured Replies

Hey

Just bought the car 2 weeks ago it was dirty inside and out badly so I decided to tackle it today.

Washed the engine bay ie degreaser then run water over it. Covered ecu, maf sensor, altenator. Then once I'd cleaned it let it run for a while took it a drive 10 miles or so came back all seemed good no problems.

So I decided to tackle the interior as it was stained and dirty, I got a vax carpet washer so I set about washing boot, back seats, front seats and carpet. There was quote alot of spray going places fron the machine. After washing I moved the car out of the garage no problems, left it running while I cleaned up with heaters on to try dry up a little then when I came back to turn car off I notice alot of lights on the dash. Turned it off went to turn it back on.. Nothing not ticking over at all.

Engine management light on

Asr light on

Parking light on

Seatbelt light on

Abs light on.

Won't do anything :( obviously water has got into somewhere but what is best to try?

Maybe wet earth's? Anyone know where they are located?

I'll disconnect any plugs in engine bay and dry too.

Any ideas guys?

Cheers

The age old question, does your battery light come on when you turn the ignition to stage 2?

No mate not that I've noticed. Bought a new battery anyway incase it is the battery

It should light up when you turn ignition to stage 2,then go out once engine is running.

Common fault on these,link in this thread;

You'll probably find the seller fully charged the battery before selling it due to the battery going flat all the time!

It's not lost charge again and still not looked at the wire yet or replaced the battery lol

Weather is crappy just now

The starter solenoid wire and/or alternator load signal wire (I think it is) are prone to failure on these, mine went on the starter. Was a bit of a ball ache to get to, wouldn't like to do it in the rain, but doable. I just took the battery out and battery tray to get better access to the starter, the wire is under that much tension I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. I added a new clip to the end of mine and extended the wire a bit. It was fine for a year until I sold it and still going strong as far as I'm aware.

That went on mine and all the electrics still worked fine and didn't get any warning lights so it's not that.

I crimped mine together lol, probably end up going again so will have to make a proper job of it if it does.
