Interior lights fuse keeps blowing! Any ideas?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, new to the forum and new to skoda. Owned my skoda octavia vrs tdi on a 10 plate for about 5 months.. Superb car! Only one issue, has to replace the interior light fuse for the 4th time now which to me makes me think some other issue is causing them to pop.. Any ideas? Also, Any owners in south yorkshire?

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Are you replacing the fuse with the correct rating?

Does the fuse blow immediately or does it last a while?

Could be a faulty bulb or a faulty switch giving a dead short.

Well it's a 5amp fuse so I swap like for like.. It doesn't blow straight away, they can last up to two weeks until I get in my car at 5:30am to go to work and can't see naff all. Recently changed all the interior bulbs for leds but the fuse has gone three times before I changed the bulbs and once since.

I thought the interior lights were on a 10amp fuse?

Just checked owners manual.. Says no.15 central control unit - interior lights 5 amperes.

  • 4 months later...

Mine have mysteriously blown this week. No boot light, no rear interior light, no front passenger interior lights. Obviously I'll replace the fuse as the first port of call, but other than that, where should I look next ? I did have the front interior light apart to see where the mic went for the phone kit I recently installed but didn't disturb any bulbs.

Well after getting through about 20 fuses I took my car for a service and they plugged it in.. They reckoned it was a short somewhere and they could have someone look at it for 40quid an hour.. But since the service touch wood the fuse hasn't blown for over a month and half.. Famous last words Haha.

switch the rear light off and see if it still blows

It does...

swop the front with the rear

Bulbs all swapped around without any difference. I'm wondering if there's something in the loom for the phone that's not connected right ?
