Fabia VRS won't start

Featured Replies

Hi looking for a bit of help, my 2004 fabia vrs stopped running yesterday after a popping noise from dash then the engine stopped, engine turns over and try's to fire up but won't catch as though it has run out of diesel even though there is 3/4 of a tank of fuel in it. Today have checked the feed to the pump in the tank all ok 12v on turning on the ignition for 5 seconds then stops after pump has primed, took pump out and put 12v to it runs fine so refitted it, fuel at filter and pump is pumping to the filter but still won't start. It is though the injectors are not firing or it isn't getting any diesel, scratching my head now as don't have a code reader to see what is showing up. Any ideas would be appreciated as tried everything I can think of, am I missing something simple like a relay or a fuse somewhere. Thanks in advance.

turbo gone or maybe inter cooler pipe has come loose

Without getting a code reader plugged in you are just pulling at straws. A pop from the dash could be one of the engine control relays going wrong. Maybe take the corner of the dash off and have a good look around them

Turbo is fine and inter cooler pipes are all ok, car will run if you leave it for a bit but only for 2 or 3 seconds before stopping again. Had dash apart checked all relays and fuses and all ok. Car has gone to have the codes read so hopefully will get sorted soon.

Did it happen just driving normally,or full boost etc?

It happened just as the car was coming on boost in second gear at about 30 mph, not heard anything today from the garage so none the wiser. Car is well looked and not chipped as it's the wife's run about car, if it is knackered will put it in the garage and sort it out as and when and look for a 2.0 TDI Audi A1 for her.

Could well be the turbos gone then, and not turning at all now so causing a restriction
