Supplementary handling mods

Featured Replies

Hi all

I am about to improve the handling of my VRS soon by fitting Powerflex Handling pack bushes, a Whiteline Anti-roll bar and by dropping lowering springs in (and before you say it...yes I know, coil-overs are better, but already have the springs)

My question is, to save on labour fees etc does anyone recommend fitting any other parts along with these? (top mounts or bump stops for example) as the car will have wheels off, control arms removed etc

Thanks guys :)

How many miles has the car covered?

Hi Damian, it just passed the 84K mark the other day

are you planning to keep the oe dampers?  They're not great quality to start with and will be close to the end of their useful life..  if you're going to be pulling your suspension to pieces it would make sense to put some good quality dampers in there - that'll have a very significant impact on your handling too.

personally i wouldn't fit top mounts or change the bump stops unless these were necessary (ie they're mullered).

as above consider upgrading to some b6 or b8 dampers as it will transform the handing

Thanks guys, I shall take a look into damper upgrades :)

Yes I'd agree with changing the dampers and also suggest changing the top mounts and bearings at the same time.

There's a nice set of used bistien yellow shocks + springs for sale in the parts section by brisky member that would be ideal for you if funds are tight.
