Xtrons HD905 Installation

Featured Replies

Hello

I was wondering if anyone has fitted these before? I have a Greenline Elegance Estate and I wanted to know where people have wired the feed to? There is an installation guide on the Xtrons forum which states that it needs a 12V switched feed that's only live with the ignition on (http://forum.xtrons.co.uk/forum_posts.asp?TID=139043), I did want to use the live and earth from the front electric seats, however, these are a constant live and no use if the Xtrons always drain power even if they're turned off.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Chris

I had no idea what an Xtron was. Thought it was either a headlight unit or a shock absorber of some kind.

Google is my friend - touch screens for headrests (I think?).

You learn something new every day...sorry I can't help with your query. Good luck with getting them sorted though.

If you want to use the permanent live from the seat you could install a split charge relay between the permanent live and the parts you're installing. This cuts power when the voltage drops below 12ish volts (Once the alternator stops running). It works beautifully on 12V socket in boot of my car, allowing me to leave a cool box plugged in without worrying about the battery being drained.

There's some good information on it here: http://www.12voltplanet.co.uk/split-charging.html

Adding a fuse to a switched live in the fuse box specifically for the new components is probably a better idea though the wiring might be slightly harder to route.
