vRS 280 tsi rumour

Featured Replies

Lets take as an example the 1.4 TSI Twinchargers 180ps DSG, 2009-2014 132-136ps.

Ibiza Cupra 3 Door, Skoda Fabia Hatch and Estate, Polo GTI, Audi A1 185 ps.

Slowest and highest fuel consumption is vRS Hatch. it has a given weight 'Unladen' of 5 kg more than the Estate.

(The hatch has 25 kg Ballast weight on the rear crash bar, a spare wheel as standard, and the 9 3/4 longer Estate also has a spare wheel.)

They are a higher VED Class but are on 205 tyres the 3 sister cars are on 215's.

So the Ibiza, Polo 3 then 5 door and the more powerful A1 185ps are given lighter unladen weights & a lower VED class.

Later those get corrected, they cost more to buy, the VW , SEAT, Audi cars that cost more even with the same engine and running gear

must appear better than the cheapest, even the more expensive estate must appear better than the hatch.

*All Manufacturers are building Euro 5 Emission Vehicles, looking for lightness.

VW have Skoda Design and manufacture 25 KG of ballast to add to a car instead of engineering proper rear suspension at a few Euro more, taking Springs and Dampers from the VW Parts Bin.*

What does 25kg cost in materials, weights and fasteners?*

That is the VW way.

Move the battery in the Polo to the boot, no ballast weights, no spare wheel as standard, ride feels better, car weighs more,

just cheat the Official Figures, and the Journalists repeat the stuff from the Media Pack.

Never bother putting a car on a Weigh Bridge or corner weights in almost all cases.

Then when 10% then 20% then even more of the Engines fail, still do not admit any fundamental design, manufacturing or quality control of components. Replace engines, and even many of those fail, and still admit nothing.

Just discontinue that technology, move on, go ACT / COD, go Bluemotion, continue with Defeat Devices & cheats.

Change the Engine Management again, keep fitting fault prone poor quality components.

This is the VW way, admit nothing, and if anything is found out, it was just an oversight.

eg.

New Zealand does a proper Service Campaign, there is a World Wide REcall excluding the EU, and no Service Campaign, then a Service Campaign with Registered Keepers still not notified nearly 2 years later.

Interesting read, they did a drag race over half mile on a website I was looking at between the Octy vrs and the golf gti (non pp) the Octavia was the very slight winner due to better grip off the mark (driver) however the 0-62 figures of the golf are half a second quicker than the Octy! That certainly would have been caught with grip difference! There has been reports of tuning company's confirming the "280" seat Leon cupra is in fact the exact same map and engine as the golf r "300"! How do they get away with this?

I was driving a Cupra 290 DSG at the weekend and it was a fair bit quicker than the 280 that was there as well.

I have driven the Golf R and R Estate and i know what maps they have.

Its as simple as we read the ECU.

Sorry my apologies I meant the 290 was same as golf r not 280

Most 280s that have been tested come out as 294 or more. Some have had over 300.

Apparently the 290 is the same map but with a different exhaust but no one really knows at the moment as there are so few on the road.

i've also read in a magazine that the Octavia RS si due to receive adaptive suspension in around May 2016.  Whether that is true or not I don't know.  They also pictured a 'prototype' of the facelift Octy 3...each light unit will become two...like the existing Mercedes E-class (pre-facelift).

I have taken delivery of my new RS230 just before christmas...brilliant car, totally love it, but I think it will be my last Skoda.  A 2011 Superb we have in the family had developed a fault in december and its been at the dealer ever since.  Whole clutch system has been replaced, gearbox has been taken apart three times and still not working as it should.  Thankfully its still in warranty, but the quality seems to be getting very shoddy.
