Post Wk22 MirrorLink - Anyone got Google Maps working on the move?

Featured Replies

As per the title really.

We have MirrorLink / Android Auto on a post wk 22 Fabia and have a couple of Android 5.0 phones.

With each we can connect to the car using a USB cable and display phone screen on the car display, including Google maps. However, as soon as the car moves the screen blanks and a message says that the app can't be displayed whilst the vehicle is moving (or something similar).

The Android Auto website seems to infer that Google Maps should be available on the move.

So, has anyone managed to get it working and if so can you state phone make & model, Android version and anything else you did to get it working?

I too also had this problem if you go into settings on smartlink change the default connection from mirrorlink to android auto and that will fix your issue.

I find with mirrorlink it only shows you what is on the screen of your phone if your not driving which is useless if you are on the move

I have postwk22 SMARTLINK, via apple carplay (slightly different I know), but my google maps works fine. Spotify is buggy as hell however. Bolero needs refining for sure for these types of issues.

works fine on the octavia (same system as the fabia), as has been said, change from mirrorlink to android auto and it will work just fine  (spotify works well too)

Yep change default setting from mirror link to android auto. Should work fine.

Had a look at this today and having selected the preferred connection method as Android Auto on the car, my Sony Xperia Z1 Compact (android 5.1.1) will only connect via Mirrorlink. I have Android Auto installed on the phone, but it doesn't want to connect using this.

Any ideas?

UPDATE: Issue now sorted. Reset the Mirrorlink through the set up menu and now managed to connect using Android Auto.
