Severely wet inside windscreen

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Is there a common seal that is weak on the 2012 vrs?

First really cold morning today and the inside of my windscreen was soaking wet, more than just a little condensation.

Had to dry it with a towel as it potentially would of took 30 minutes to dry with the car heaters, and it's not good to idle a car that long to warm up.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue or should I report to the dealers and get it looked at under warranty?

Thanks.

Have you ever had a screen replaced?

That amount of moisture usually emanates from inside the car, anything damp in the boot, floor mats which have been mentioned, etc?

pollen filter soaked/ solid ?

Haven't checked to be fair. Where is it located? I will have a check when car comes back from wheel restorers.

It's above the passengers feet behind the glovebox.

See here...

If the car is as damp inside as you say it is then it won't be difficult to find the source.

Thanks for that little video. Won't do any harm in changing the pollen filter. Windscreen was only soaking yesterday morning after a frosty night. It was cold today but no condensation in the car.

Will look at changing the pollen filter next weekend as my car is away till Monday getting the wheels refurbished.

did changing the filter sort the problem? I have similar issues.

I eventually found a way to keep my Octavia clear through winter:

Leave Econ on (I.e. A/C off) at all times

Make sure the car is dry (fixed a leak in boot)

Keep a couple of these in the car (one on parcel shelf and one on dash overnight):

Manually control the fan speed to keep it turned up a bit to keep good air flow (auto tended to blow low all the time)

Try and keep the temperature dial up a bit or I would give it a blast at full temp and full speed before shutting the car off

Try and avoid getting in with really wet shoes and jackets too.

This really helped. Our first winter was awful with the Octavia and constantly met with a dripping inside windscreen on a morning.

After following the above we would get a bit of misting on a morning but would soon clear.

Check your boot and boot seal for any leaks.

On the MK 2 rear door seals were a common issue (wind noise whilst driving). Even from new.

On the MK3 its the boot seal boom.

A sunroof is a handy thing. Turning the car on to quite warm/hot and circulating well every time you drive with it on, and setting the roof at tilt so the hot and therefore moist air goes out through the highest point in the car. Touch wood, I've had very little condensation problems, just a few days, but this seems to work of a fashion.
