I've had an issue with my car cutting out randomly and heard the camshaft sensor was at fault, I bought one from eBay for 24.99 and fitted, the cutting out was solved straight away but then I was left with a hesitant starting fabia, the engine dips in revs then either starts up or cuts out, I've had the car on the computer and it's bringing up the camshaft sensor! Could it be a faulty part?

Possibly if its a cheap ebay part, for sensons i only use Genuine dealer parts now because of problems such as the above.

I've contacted them to get a refund, they seem very popular on eBay so thought that wasn't the case, next stop is a genuine part, any recommendations of where to buy from?

How did you get on feeding the cable through the back of the cambelt cover?

I had a friend of mine who's a mechanic fit the sensor, bit of a pain taking the cover off and popping the grommet out but took all of half an hour. Hoping he can do me another favour and fit the new one haha

Why are you sure the sensor is at fault?

I had a similar problem which hoping someone can help me with also. Had the EPC light and eml light come on last week thdew out a code 17599 MAp sensor haven't been able to get to garage this week and have carried on driving it all OK except dipping revs and idleing rough throughout the week it's thrown out different codes including o2 sensor knock sensor and egr valve but syntoms still the same. Then today started car but as soon as the revs dip the engine stalls managed to get home.by keeping foot on the gas and revs high but as soon as you fry to.idle the engine cuts out any ideas pls??

Sadly without some diagnosis it's anyone's guess. Could be a coil pack, injector or plug, maybe even a throttle body. MAP sensor faults and O2 sensor faults can be logged if the engine isn't running correctly.

Originally I had 6 different codes 16786, 17566, 17850, 16709, 17604 I cleared them all just before the engine failed and now what's showing is 17851, 16726 and 17566
