Im going to paint the inside of my lights black like the Depo ones, but from looking at other peoples it seems the insert goes all the way round the light like a frame. I've always thought it was just the bottom bit and up each side towards the grille.

What have other people done regarding this?

This picture should show what I mean, I thought it was just the bottom part and the bit closest to the grille that gets painted

But then you see this and think... Hmmm!

Yeah that's all painted on mine,had them off Danham.iirc he said it was a pain splitting them

I'm thinking is it not illegal to paint them, as in... It's removing the reflector part from the headlight.

There is a guide on here somewhere with instructions how to do it. It's pretty easy, done a fair few sets myself.

Yeah I've already split the lights, just not sure how much to paint and what colour.

Is Depo just a very shiny gloss black?

Yup, same as what I've got....

These were split and painted by the previous owner.

I would go satin black rather than gloss.

No issues with legality of doing it,does not affect the reflector/light pattern at all

I'm getting a body shop to paint the grille on Monday so will give them the inserts at the same time to do the same colour, which we agreed to do satin on Friday, so good choice from above!

Hopefully it will be nice and subtle, don't want them to stand out to much.

Looks way better than full chrome,can guarantee you will like them
