Major worrying Noise!!

Featured Replies

Was driving home from yorkshire friday, and at the end of the journey i noticed that when i accelerated i got the normal turbo whistle, but aswell had a very noticeable blowing/sucking noise. As i drive through the gears it is always there. it comes in as the turbo does! I've contacted the dealers but he didnt really know what to say. The car doesnt or hasn't lost any power! And i frankly haven't got a scooby!

Hi

Does it sound like someone blowing air across the top of a plastic tube or a bit like the sound of the vacuum cleaner tube end minus the motor noise? Mine started to make a similar sound at about 4 to 5K. Has not got any worse at 7K but will ask dealer to check it out at first service. (Unless anyone here knows what it is).

The demonstrator I had to test drive did this and they didn'y know what it was when I gave it back.

Somebody somewhere knows...

I had exactly the same a couple of weeks ago, sounds like a really strong sucking sound which i compared to almost sounding like a slipping belt.

I took this to star that day(Was going for RR anyway) and was told its nothing really to worry about they just do it sometimes. But i have found now that it only does it when its really cold outside, so i'm putting it down to the density of air it was taking in combined with any airflow mods that have been done.

Its kinda intermittant now and doesnt cause any performance reduction, and since its become a bit milder of late i havent noticed it at all.

Hi

Yep, I noticed that today the noise was not there until on the way home tonight when the temperature dropped to 4 degrees or so. The colder it gets, the louder it gets. May just be a product of colder denser air in the intake system. Now adverse effects driving it.
