Lacquer peeling off rear door

Featured Replies

I noticed a couple of days ago lacquer peeling off the offside rear door, looks like stone chips and water has got inside. Not happy should I complain?

60 plate Yeti.

If its from outside to inside I doubt you will get any assistance.

From inside to out then maybe.

Silly question, you don't mean the protective 'foil' above the wheel arch?

Mine doesn't have the protective foil. It's the factory applied lacquer. And yes outside > in.

I know from experience that repairing the clear coat is a professional job. It can be blended for a patch repair by using a high proportion of solvent that melts the new and existing lacquers together, otherwise you just get an edge. The other alternative is to do the whole door. The products needed would not be safe health wise for the average do-it-yourselfer.

It's not the edge of a 'blended' panel paint repair is it?.

No it below the plastic trim about 2" in from the door edge just after the curve . Gonna get it painted it'll only get worse.
