Oil Leak service recall on Yeti.

Featured Replies

I've had a call from our dealer today requesting the car for investigation of possible oil leaks between cam shaft and cylinder head. We have 2.0 TDI Outdoor 65 plate. my parents have 4x4 version but have heard nothing. Has anybody else had a recall.

Thanks I'll check it out. When I said was it a recall, they said no not as such so I was wondering what was going on.

I get feed up of Service Desk employees calling Service Campaign or Quality Control Checks Recalls.

They get in touch with Customers they have details for, but do not 'Recall', like a Recall where Registered Keepers are made aware.

Owners and Keepers that might not be on the Skoda / Volkswagen Group Computer System.

It would be good if not only the caller making the call had some clue on what they were calling about,

but also Skoda UK / VWG put in righting clearly what the Recall Action / Service Campaign is and printed the TPI for the vehicles owner.

They did say it would take about 6 hours so it must be quite major.

Why read them if you know what is coming.

It has been going on for years now with Skoda UK, but there is a new Brand Director as Skoda UK and he hopefully has talks with Official Dealerships about Recall Actions and Service Campaigns since he comes from VW and After Sales, and knows how long it took for there to be even a UK VIN Checker with Skoda.

Feeling the need to nip the 'recall' term in the bud here before someone goes offski on yet another anti VAG crusade....

The OP casually mentioned the 'recall' term and quantified it by saying the dealer said it wasn't a 'recall'.

There's a potential problem resulting in some vehicles being called in for some preventative maintenance or a cure. Jolly good show I'd say - much better than having a manufacturer shirk their responsibilities and deny there's a problem.

I for one can't be doing with yet another informative thread being turned into an anti VAG rant. So please go and sit down in a darkened room, take a chilling pill and r-e-l-a-x.....

I find the simple answer in dealing with "certain" Skoda knockers on this forum is to stick them in my Ignore list.

Perhaps the Scottish one will get banned again!!

Personally, I have an excellent dealer and I know they will contact me if there is something that needs to be done to my Yeti.

It looks like the OP's dealer has also been proactive in informing their customer, so job done.

Any further info gleaned from such a thread as this is useful background stuff, in my humble opinion.

All information on Snagging Faults and Quality Investigations are obviously helpful to one and all,

and Skoda UK could be more forthcoming.

LOL. at the person that just ignores people, and then tells you all the time they just ignore you.

Some how he thinks mentioning Nationalities is important.

Always there being No 1 Fanboy.

Oh dear didn't want to cause grief...just wondered if any other Yeti owners had any info.

Thanks for the heads up.

I've heard nothing, will have to dig out my VIN and check.

I've checked my 1.8Tsi VIN on Skoda's system and it tells me that there is no recall/bulletin logged for my vehicle.

I'll be intersting to know what gets done to the OP's car though.

Any update, has the Yeti been in and had the work done?

Picked up my Yeti from dealer last night. It did in fact have an oil leak but the dealer gave me no specific details other than it was within a housing between the cylinder head and cam shaft and therefore would not have been visible when the vehicle had been parked for any length of time.

Looking at the paperwork they had with photos and instructions on what needed doing from Skoda I assume it's a major problem but don't know how many vehicles it effects.

Just an after thought I checked my VIN for any recall notices and it flashed up nothing.

I think it's a matter of not confusing a 'recall' with an internal service division notification......it keeps bad publicity at bay and keeping the nasty stuff 'in house'.

Not another example of VWG being honest and transparent is it?

I buy a late version hoping that all issues have been ironed out and now this, possibly! Not impressed if it transpires there is a problem.
