Hi all.My backlight doesnt work on my audience mp3 on ma mk2 Skoda Octavia.Only get it around the volume button.It could be annoying at the winter when its always dark.

Any suggestions would be great

It's probably either a LED or the power circuit that powers them that's failed. It'll need taking apart, the fault finding and fixing by someone that knows how to.

 

Easiest option is probably to replace it with a different unit as I expect a repair will probably be around £100 looking at similar repairs on instrument clusters.

That's great thanks for the advice.Do you know how many led lights are inside for the buttons and the screen.how come the volume button backlight works ok.

For £45 (inc delivery)  and a straight swap (Stream MP3 is a single disc unit though), is it worth the faff to try and repair? ;)

No idea how many LED's or what size are used in the Audience I'm afraid. Unless either you or a friend have the skills to do it, the unit's probably not worth fixing.

 

Depending how they've wired the LED's up, the volume control may have a different power source to the other buttons. It's impossible to know without seeing a PCB and following the traces.
