Had a issue with car for a while now had knocking noise from from but my steering seems to be getting worse, had look under car and can't see anything bad but on last mot had tie Rod loose on drivers side, will not loose but worn would this be my bad steering issue? How hard are these to change? Also it's a 2.0 diesel where u top the steering fluid up? Thanxs in advance

Hi! Firstly presuming you have a VRS they run an electromechanical rack to there's no fluid. (Basically it's an electric motor providing your assistance)

Onto your knock, under what condition do you have the knock. I had a knock when I would wobble the steering wheel side to side whilst stationary and after a bit of googling found out the MK5 platform appears to suffer a little with rack failures. I ended up replacing my rack with a brand new genuine rack bought off eBay for £250. Afterwards knock was completely gone!
