sailed through m o t

Featured Replies

hi all ,took my bargain car for an mot today ,cost £675 ,its now 13 years old and it sailed through its mot with no advisories ,,,happy days .

That's an expensive MOT :D

Got mine later this week, not looking forward to that.

Nice work.

Mine is 15 years old with 160k miles up - and I've owned her for 5 years now, from 80k miles.

Ok, I am quite hot on preventative maintenance, and regularly spanner her when things start to look dodgy - but then again, she's no garage queen either. She gets used hard, fast (oo-er :) ) and all year round.

Happy to say that, over the last 5 MOT's, I've never even had an advisory...

Starting with the biggest issue that we might face, of corrosion, these cars are galvanised - and unless you've had a horrendously bodged crash repair, they just don't rust. Hence you won't get any rust issues at MOT time, so working backwards from that, any reasonably competent and enthusiastic owner SHOULD, in theory, be able to make one of these cars almost last forever, kinda thing!

+1 here 15 years old 57K miles owned from 42K 2 MOT's no advisories, but it's maintained in a preventative sense. Proper wee work horse commuting mule.

ps. I was expecting this to be a joke thread and was thinking I would see a pic like this based on title with recent events:
