Voice control on 2.0 SE L auto estate

Featured Replies

I hope to get a new Octavia 2.0 SE L auto estate next month. At present I have a Ford Focus Titanium auto estate that links, via Bluetooth to my Motorola smart phone giving the ability to call any of the contacts stored on my phone by voice control. Will I have the same capability on the new Skoda?

If its a Uk spec car then yes...all Uk spec Octavias bar the S model come with Voice Control as standard.

That said its sh1te...or certainly was on earlier Octavias with the 1st gen MIB infortainment....might be better on 2nd gen but cant say as I have a Golf GTD with MIB2 but it doesnt come with Voice Control as standard.

I have voice control and agree with pipsy, it's terrible. If you've used something like Siri or Kinect voice control and know how well that kind of thing can work, you cannot fail to be disappointed with the in car experience.

That said, I've never voice dialled using it, never even considered it as I found it so slow and poor in general. I've an iPhone so use Siri to voice dial.

I'm sure a nice sales guy will let you sit in a car for a while and try that stuff out like I did, really helped to get the sale [emoji2]

Works ok to dial on the phone, otherwise it isn't so good! Here's me thinking it's because of my Geordie accent haha

Or open the phone dialled list on the Maxidot display between the dials and select and dial.

As said ask salesperson to demonstrate.

Voice control for phone seems to work correctly 50 % of the time, for sat Nav or audio tracks - never gets it correct for me.

(That's on MIB2 Amundsen)

Luckily I only really use a few numbers so the 5 favourites are enough most of the time.

The dealer did claim that it should learn your voice commands over time ( not sure if I fact it has an algorithm to do this ) but after 6 months I've given up
