4 wheel drive not working

Featured Replies

The four drive has stopped working. One wheel spins nothing else drives. Some people have mentioned it could be due to a low battery? Battey is at 13volt aft charging but made no difference. Any ideas before Ideas before I take it to the dealers.

After charging your battery should be left to stand for at least 4hours then the voltage tested,

then it should show 12.6v on a good battery.

Realized my 4 wheel drive wasn't working about a month before the 3 year guarantee was up. (Front wheels losing grip under hard acceleration). Dealer said it was the controller that was faulty. Assume they fit a new one. Don't know what the cost would be if I would have had to pay for it.

If you were a gentle driver you could be unaware that the rear wheels weren't driving.

Does the traction control light on th dash flash at the same time?.

Not for me

I've never seen the traction control light on mine.

If your complaint was made (formally) within the warranty period, you have a legitimate complaint even though it has expired.

That's how 'our' consumer law stands.

Just a thought that 'flashing' might indicate a driveline fault relevant to the service devision.

Another reason to stay loyal AFAIC.

Every time I drive a vehicle it a 'road test' as far as I'm concerned.

To me, it pays to be a bit obsessive over a vehicle's behaviour day to day, and jump on it straight away FORMALLY if within warranty.

Welcome to the forum.

So what exactly is your Yeti.  Model.

How old,

how many miles covered in total,

what sort of service history and fluid changes and done where?

Have you had it just over 3 months and the AWD was working at first and now is not?

2010 150BHP 80000K  serviced regularly haldex oil changed in Dec.Second time this has happened ,first time it was low oil in the haldex gearbox

So low oil in the Haldex first time meant Not enough at factory fill, a leak or someone did it wrong.

Best see a Specialist, and that might or not be a Skoda Dealership.

Is the previous work Skoda Dealership Servicing / Warranty work?

Who did the Oil in December,

do you have the Invoice showing the Oil used?

Yes correct oil used in Dec.Does not appear to be leaking previous was just outside the 3 year warranty.

It would be a lot easier if you explained a bit more.

Like did you buy a used car from a Dealer a few months ago and got a 3 month Warranty, then you have had it serviced or you serviced it,

it was working when you got it and now it is faulty?

So over 5 year old car with 80,000 miles,

did it need or have Warranty work before 3 years old, then faulty just after 3 years.

What work has been done recently on it?

Had the car since new , first problem happened just after warranty had expired. Now always get haldex checked when car is serviced. No work required until this.

If you've been loyal I'd expect them to respond accordingly.
