dogbone mount

Featured Replies

having just changed my bushes in the dogbone mount for powerflex ones. i now have a slight creaking noise when pulling away, part of me thinks this is "bedding in" but i do no the two bolts that hold the dogbone to the subframe im sure one side has stripped the thread as it just wouldnt tighten up like the other did, im wondering if this is my issue,   i no i will have to take it off drill out and helicoil it at some point ,.

but is a certain amount or freaking normal after upgrading bushes?

Never had any noise when changed mine.

Creaking doesn't sound right, vibration for first couple thousand miles maybe. Think those bolts are stress bolts and so should be replaced although people don't and do get away with it, maybe yours got a bit swollen and you've not got away with it hence the trouble getting it in? Also how tight did you do the bolt that clamps the bush? Can't remember the figure now, but it's not major tight, could also be an issue there?

All new bolts . But maybe it was the main body too tight I'll try loosen see what happens

Think it was 20 something nms for that bolt, see how it goes

actually more of a vibrating noise. im thinking exhuast as its been pulled a bit more?

There will be an increase in vibration as it beds in. Think that's pretty normal for first couple thousand miles. If you do a Google search you should find some reassuring reviews and perhaps even suggested torque settings. I suppose it depends how bad it is?

well just jacked it up took it off re set the main bolt to 18ftllbs which aint murder tight. actually managed to tighten the subframe bolt must been my cacked handidedness! no sound like a grind or vibrate yet, see how it goes on way home,
