New Windscreen problem

Recommended Posts

My octy has just had a new windscreen fitted. It was an OE one that was fitted as there was not an aftermarket one available for my car. The screen seems to be coated in something that I can't get off and the sucker marks from installation won't come of. I've tried the vag screen wash neat, meths and glass cleaner, nothing seems to be removing it. From the outside the screen looks clear but when you sit in the car and use the wipers, it's a different story. There's also parallel lines across the screen like it's been rolled up. Any tips, ideas or an answer is very much appreciated. What's bugging me the most is, the fitter told my wife it cost £700 from skoda. If need be once the wife cones of nights, we will get the fitter back to inspect it.

I'm already thinking that's what's going to have to happen. I will get new blades this week and see where we go from there. The ones on the car are about 3 months old, I know there's no rhyme nor reason for changing them by time.

If you think it's marks, try using spirit vinegar on old newspaper (preferably one where the ink comes off on your hands if you can get it).

Already tried neat meths on it. What ever it is, it's defiantly on the outside of the screen. I'm also thinking as said above, there might be a lamination problem.
