Boot light immediately blows fuse?

Featured Replies

So according to my OH the boot doesnt have a light installed because otherwise as soon as a bulb is added it blows the lights fuse. Obviously its a short somewhere but I just wondered if anybody had experienced this issue so I could check the wiring a bit quicker than having to work my way alllllllll the way along the car?

Have a look in the void space in front of the LHR lighting cluster (under the CD stacker if fitted). There's a pipe connector for the rear window washer there which often leaks and can affect anything that runs wires through it.

It's negative/earth switched by a microswitch which is part of the boot lock in the tailgate. Bulb holder has a permanent 12V supply.

Though why that on its own would blow the lighting fuse, I dunno. About the only items involved are the bulb and the lamp holder and connectors.
