Featured Replies

hi guys wondering if anyone can help i have had the usual problems we all no with the central locking and microswitches etc on the octaviavrs mk 1 but have changed the wiring loom replace all door locks replaced the drivers side window motor etc and everything is working as it should all leds light up both mirrors are working as they should but the one and only problem i have is that the key fob no longer operates all doors just doesnt do anything have replaced the battery in the key does it need recoding now any help is much appreciated thanks

Might be a silly question but is the battery the right way up? If so have you tried unlocking the doors with key and starting the engine? This solved it for me when I had the same issue.

yeah done all that battery is fully charged got 14.2 volts on the boost gauge started engine drove it but still same issue everything works all heated mirrors all windows just wont lock or unlock off the fob so im stumped as i have even changed the batterys in the fob but its still the same

I am sure there is a pairing process. I will have a look in the manual tonight or someone else will be along to advise in a bit.

thanks mate any help is much appreciated as i have changed everything in drivers door now and all new locks in every door

Page 13 of the manual says:

If it is no longer possible to unlock the car using the remote control, the problem may be that the codes of the key and control unit in the car no longer agree. This can happen if the buttons of the key are pressed several times beyond the effective range of the system or if the battery of the remote has been replaced.

For this reason, the code must be re-synchronised by pressing any desired button on the remote control. Open the door with the key within one minute after pressing the button..

Hope that helps

gave it a go but still no joy unfortunately

Does the red light flash on the key when you press the button?

  • Author

no mate it doesnt

Could be an electrical fault in the key fob itself then.

it was all working before i had the problems with the corroded pins etc which is why i changed everything and the batterys in the remote just in case it was them is just a strange one

My spare didn't light up so I removed the battery and fiddled with the connections, re-fitted battery and it worked
