Both Back doors not locking/unlocking

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have read a lot of the posts on the forum in regards to this issue and they all seem to relate to a singular door not working.  On this car, the key will unlock the front doors, the courtesy light will come on but the back door button on both sides does not budge.  The doors will open by using the handle from the inner side of the door.

The unlock button on the drivers arm rest on the door will not lock/unlock the car either, would this be the loom between the front and back or would it be the electrical wiring in the drivers door/possibly failed locks on the back ?

Bit of a newbie to all the electrical stuff !

The arm rest button is probably just the switch, quite common. Try and find a used one to try. Is it a vrs by the way? Not that it makes much difference mind. It is a bit odd it's both back doors, still check usual suspects of multiplugs and looms where they pass through door pillars.

If you need any looms I have both back doors available from a vrs.

Thanks, will look for a switch for drivers side.  I'll check the looms on the back as well.  Strange that the front doors will open with the remote control, but neither of the back will work.  All the posts on the forum seem to be one of the doors, not both :-)

Scrappy it is after having a check !!!

Drivers door switch set is 10quid on flea bay for a pattern part.

just watch the part number - the last letter corresponds to light colour..

Thanks, had a look at the back door and the loom looks like two of thr wires have come away. New loom time, is there only one type of door loom for the 2002 tdi model or multiple types?

Hopefully they're the same as the ones I have in good working order ;)

What year of vrs were they from?

2004, central locking, electric windows and those tweeter speakers. 25 posted the pair if you want them. I had no locking issues at all, apart from a sticky n/s front door which was fixed with grease. No problem with rears, looms in good nick.
