Cool reversing idea

Featured Replies

I've just bought a 9 led (light emitting diode) reversing light from Autostyle direct. It is VERY bright and when you select reverse, it beeps loudly. I think it's an excellent idea.

Don't think my neighbours would be too impressed as I reversed into my space at 3am

Chris

why do you need it to beep???? surely the fact you are travelling backwards is enough to know that you have it in reverse?

Chris, I think i'm having a 'blonde' moment recently. I do shifts and sometimes also have to reverse at home at 5am :rofl: Let the battle commence.

Erm... safety, kids, grannies, blind people, cars, animals, ............ Doh.

I like the security vans "Warning, securicor vehicle is reversing".

A beeping Fabia ? IMO totally pointless.

I was a passenger on a coach with one of these fitted. There was a sign for the driver telling him he had to turn it off at certain times I think it was 11:30pm-7am. I think it gets regarded as a horn under the highway code as the timings matched when you shouldn't use the horn.

Now, I may be wrong but SCN just now there is a huge topic about someone who has used LEDs and it screws with ur car. Something to do with differing resistance, makes the ECU think the bulbs are out and basically puts ur car in limp mode. If its just a reverse light, you may be ok. Just something worth knowing.

Oh sure, yeah. Nobody EVER uses thier horn after hours.

Its correct, using LED's on their own will make the car think a bulb has gone. However this can be worked around by using an appropriate resistor. I believe some LED clusters for cars have this integrated already.

Then it should say.............Woooooooooppppps Sorry!!!! as it backs into you

thats what rear view mirrors are for. Dont reverse into them.

Anyone who uses their horn after hours is a ****** and deserves to die. Fed up of getting woke up by someone tooting their horn to tell someone they are here or going. This world is full of people with no respect for others.

[Deserves to die ??? Are you sure ?

Wrong there mate. Women use them for putting on make-up whilst driving. ;)

yes I am sure they desrve to die. About time we started some natural selection. Stop all the people who do things like blowing their trumpets at 12:00 at night from breeding. That way the decent people in the world might get a good nights sleep

it could be worse!! i mean he could of gone for the full fog lighs at the back kit to blind people out of the way!, and a big fog horn HONK HONK! witha little bumper sticker saying please stand clear from reversing supermini......ok maybe a little OTT but i dont see the point if your reversing you look out the back, if some one doesnt see you, your only going to be going slownot exactly fatal for any person, and then if it was a kid they shouldnt be ebhind your car in the 1st place:confused: leave it for th trucks
