Skoda dsg gearbox replacement with mechantronic ?

Featured Replies

Hi , skoda have told me that the mechantronic has failed and caused my gearbox to detonate with it ! This is a 4k replacement from skoda them self . I'm after info , does the gearbox come with the machateonic ? Or do I have too buy both ? And reconditioned ? I don't have 4k too spend half at the most , any help / sites where I can get the box ect ? I have a mechanic too fit it . It's for my 2010 vrs model !

How many miles has the car done? Does it have a full service history, and who by?

Sorry to hear this.

Not an answer, but could you give some more information please..

MAYBE YOU NEED TO PAY NOTHING, MAYBE SKODA UK NEED TO DO WHAT THEY NEED TO DO,

SINCE THEY NEVER DID A RECALL IN THE UK.

?

Was the car part of the Service Campaign and the Registered Keeper informed since May 2014 that the DSG would

benefit from a change of the Oil from Synthetic to Mineral and a Software Update,

and has it been done.

http://master.skoda-auto.com/mini-apps/recall-actions

(is it still outstanding and might have contibuted to the failure of the DSG and an issue for Skoda / VW,

possibly the expense being theirs, even though the car is nearly 6 years old.)

There was a World Wide Recall, excluding the EU/UK and some other World Regions.

Expensive to buy a cheap or even correct price DSG and then fit new clutch packs, maybe a MCU, pay Labour and fit,

only to find it was a ****e one as well, even with an exchange warranty.

(Double labour costs.  New or Replacement DSG needs Software Uploaded / Updated, not a Back Street Garage job.)

Especially not worth buying a used one,

if Skoda / VW can fit a nice new (Refurbished one.) because the car should have been recalled in the first place to have the

Mechatronic Control Unit checked and Service Campaign done.

So check the History of the car and Service Campaign if you recently got the car.

Then speak with Skoda UK Customer Services rather than Dealerships.

Get everything in writing.

One bought from SKODA / VW will come with a 2 Year Warranty as an official Part.

If you do have to pay, find out how much a New one is from them,

or a Refurbished one from the VW Factory, or actually now the Skoda Factory.

They increased the DSG Production in 2015 from 1,000 to 1,500 a day.

?

Which Skoda Dealership has quoted the £4,000.

Why did they not break down the costs?

Is the car in there now?

Let me start by saying i won't have help from skoda , the car hasn't been serviced by skoda for a couple of years therefore they are not interested in helping me neither did I buy it from skoda or a skoda dealer.

I also know about the recal and dos let skoda know that I was not informed about the recall and no it didn't have it , but again they will not entertain me due too the fact I've not been using skoda , it has service history else wear but not with them so I don't have a leg to stand on in regards too getting them too pay for repairs.

Hi , it broke down two weeks ago and has sat with skoda ever since , I've been told the mechantronic has failed but due to whole half mile I drove too get it home it's killed the gearbox , the only breakdown I got on paper was a 3200 gearbox and 6 hours labour and some consumables , I mentioned too them about the recall but they said skoda wouldn't be interested and went threw the checklist they have about getting skoda too help and essentially I failed . I've had the car 2 years and it's not been too skoda since then due too the fact I worked for land rover so they have been servicing it. I was never told about the recall or ever had a letter ect neither has the car had it done. I don't have much of a chance calling up skoda UK although I haven't tried as yet.

It does not have to be to Skoda for Servicing, it needs to be Serviced to the Manufacturers Service Schedule / Guidelines,

used OEM Parts, Vat Registered Dealership etc etc.

But that is for a Manufacturers Warranty.

Your car is out of Manufacturers Warranty.

The DQ200 DSG World Wide REcall has nothing to do with Warranty,

It was Safety Critical around the World, just not in the UK / EU.

Skoda / VW Convinced the DfT / DVSA (VOSA) no Recall was required, and they would contact owners.

Well they might have contacted ones they knew of, they might have contacted some Registered Keepers,

but they never advertised, and Owners / Registered Keepers do not need to Use Main Dealers.

VW / SKODA can not wipe their hands of them.

The World Wide Recall was in 2013, they knew the issues in 2012, the Service Campaign Started in 2014 in the UK.

Fundamental Design, Manufacturing, Component Choice, including fluids & Quality Control failures.

They put 100,000 mile warranties on the DQ200 in other World Regions.

Up to you if you pursue Skoda UK but the New Brand Director of Skoda UK was in charge of VW Parts until this year,

i would pursue having Skoda Pay for Work on your DSG or Replacement.

all the best.

I just read that bit,  'Skoda would not be interested'.

You ask Skoda UK Custiomer Services yourself, do not have some Dealership Employee tell you if the subject is about £4,000.

Of your hard earned, not theirs, they get well paid by Skoda UK to do the Service Campaign work,

or to replace crap bits VW / Skoda manufactured and latter had to improve.

A Muppet at a Skoda Dealership told me a load of nonsense about the DQ200 DSG just before Christmas,

and how Skoda had no need to take action, but then he is a plank that Skoda UK Customer Services has had others take

over from on matters of Warranty due to him knowing jack ****.

New Engines fitted @ around £4,000 where he was telling owners that 1 litre of oil used in 600 miles was within tolerances,

telling owners Spark Plugs had a 70,000 miles service interval in a vRS Twincharger.

If you can't afford to get it fixed maybe try selling the car as spares or repair (if there's no finance on the car)

The 3200 for the gearbox will come with the mechatronics.

As George says, just because some dealer said Skoda UK wont be interested, doesn't mean hes right.

Skoda UK might surprise you, hopefully.

As long as its got a FSH, its better than none. A fully serviced and looked after car shouldn't do this after such little time.
