Amundsen Manoeuvre

Featured Replies

Hi

I had the opportunity today to use my Sat Nav properly for the first time (Amundsen II).

Worked really well with good instructions but has one annoying features that I can't figure out how to turn off. When you are navigating with the split screen you get a list of manoeuvres that are coming up (this is good) however it also clutters up this list with restaurants (and I guess other POIs if there are any?). I want to turn the POIs in the manoeuvre list off but cannot see how. The handbook doesn't really help - it says they are listed but not how to get rid of them...).

Anyone know?

Could it be under "New destination address" > "Options"?

Edit: Or under "View" deselect POIs.

Mine generally works very well also, but there have been a couple of occasions when it has told me to turn right in the Maxidot (but not on the unit itself) when the route was straight on.

I knew the early part of the journey so ignored it, especially as it was a dead end behind Warwick Castle! The island has been there for years so not an out of date map.

I've had a number of units over the years, both built-in and separate and have problems with guidance with all of them which leads to distrust. On the odd occasion it was down to user error but not always. One occasion was on my motorbike on the way to Austria. We could see the hotel in the city, but would the sat nav take us there, would it hell. Lead us a right dance.

So I still tend to check routes out on Google first and have maps as a back-up.

I have no problem with the guidance or what the Maxidot is telling me. It's the split screen list of manoeuvres which randomly includes points of interest you're going to pass that I can't figure out how to get rid of. If I deselect POIs under view it takes them off the amap but they stay in the manouevers list. I want POIs on the map and I want the list of turns but not POIs in this list. I've gone round and round in circles looking...

I'll have a look tomorrow.

Failing that you could always ask the "experts" - the dealer! :notme:

The what?  :notme:

Or post the question in the ICE section of the forum.

Didn't realise there was one! I'll ask there now :-)

Sorry can't help.

Had a play when I was out today and I can't even get POIs to show in the split screen despite trying turning various things on and off.

I can understand why you would be annoyed having them appear in the list if you weren't actually looking for something.

Maybe because you're stationary.

'Stuff' is very smart these days and probably knows you're not currently looking whilst on the move.

Google knows all it seems to me......you're a 'prospect' to profit from.(?)

I was stationary when I set the various options but was then driving home.

As I don't want the same problem I won't fiddle anymore!

Perhaps another example of less being more.
