Panoramic Roof - any good

Featured Replies

So after my post on previous topic regarding paint colours, Glosrich posted:

Watch Panoramic roofs.
They either seem to leak, creak or frost up in the winter.
I dont get the new craze for white. This time of year it always looks dirty.

Any truth in that and should I avoid ? This is for a long term car.

Seems many of the leaking sunroof tales of woe refer to those that actually open. The one on the Fabia is just a glass roof so I'm hoping that this mitigates any risk of leaking ?

Sunroof on Fabia/Roomster is fixed and I cannot recall a single report of leakage during my 6+ years on Brisky.

Sunroof on Yeti is openable and there have been a few reports of leakage.

I love the sunroof on my Roomster and I would not want a Roomster or Fabia without one.

Have a read around on the Octavia section. One rejected for a leaking pano roof.

A normal sunroof would be less risky for a long term car.

Have a Google also for faults. Insurance needs to cover it also as the can get chipped or crack like any glass.

I have a panoramic roof on my Fabia Iii SE L. Love it, as does everyone who rides in the car. No problems with icing or fogging since September whencar was new. Young children think it's cool as they can watch clouds...or stars...through the roof.....and the two sliding blinds effectively block out direct sunlight, if required.

Would I specify the pano roof again? Yes, and mine will be a long-term car.

Panoramic roofs aren't covered in the same way as windscreen by insurance companies, if it gets chipped or shattered then it's a full on fault claim for a repair. It's not just a £70-£80 excess to Autoglass like a windscreen or side window so be aware, check your policy exclusions.

No problems with mine on Octavia (which opens) so far.

The sunroof on our 2014 Fabia Monte Carlo 1.6 Tdi Estate works perfectly & no leaks to date.

Unless Skoda make the MK3 Fabia available, I'm told unlikely, WITH A SUNROOF THAT OPENS,

I'll not buy another Fabia Estate.

The whole point of a sunroof is that it actually OPENS.

We sat in the Fabia Monte Carlo last weekend and both loved the panoramic roof; a definite 'must have' should we buy new again.

Have specifically checked this with my insurer...Pano Roof does not attract extra premium, is not dealt with any different to any other glass on car, i.e. no exclusions for the pano roof.  Guess all insurance companies aren't the same.

To be honest, and I've only had my car a day, but I don't notice the sunroof at all. Maybe I sit too far forward (though I'm 5,11 so not likely) so I think it's more for passangers. Hope this helps. :)

Is not a little early to be getting daylight in Scotland? Thought it arrived mid-June and departed mid-August. You'll probably notice the amount of light then.

Just joking....lived near Stirling for eight years and both kids were born there, so do have some rights.

Agree, pano roof is not obvious but does flood the car with light.

Hahaha, we have had really good weather the past few weeks, in fact. At a wedding today and the weather couldn't be better which is great for the couple. :D
