love my fl vrs but have the chance of a new vrs or a golf r if i go all out , what do you think ?

I think you know the answer, it's written in Blue bold font below your question.....don't come back in a year saying, " I wish I'd done it " or even worse, "I bought a petrol VRS and its economy isn't as good as my old diesel".

Most people come on here and questions like this in the hope that they will be talked out of blowing a load of cash on a new car when the current car fulfils all their needs.

So, don't do it. Bored you might be but your current car is all you need!

If your comfortable with your current car, why stretch for something else that may be that push too far. It is only a car.

Don't do it! Don't want to see my old pride and joy disappear into the sunset never to be seen again

test drive a golf R then make a decision.

personally i wouldn't swap a mk2 for a mk3 unless you need to (ie like me you've hit a mileage limit and you don't have a choice).  Golf R though is a different kettle of fish entirely though to your diesel mk2.  300 bhp and 4wd :)

in the past i've run some very nice cars, and dropped a bunch of cash to keep them running/maintained/upgraded.  Although financially it was a very significant chunk of money i don't regret a minute of it.  There's no way given my current family situation i could have something ridiculously fast now.. so glad i did it when i had a chance.
