Fabia door seals and wet footwells

Featured Replies

I have wet rear footwells on my fabia mark 1 and I read on forums its do do with rear carrier door seals .If I get this fixed should the front door carriers be done ,or are the front doors not prone to leaks .If so what is the difference.

Fronts -rears- it's down to chance, but there's plenty of info on here ,in form of stickies on how to seal them. I had y fronts done under warranty, and Skoda blokes said it the cfards are riveted we  seal them. If thee cards are screwed in, we replace.

If it is your rear footwells, then re seal the rear doors. Lots of information for you to read on here regarding the cause/solution and a guide.

Rears are much more prone to leaking due to the vertical divider between the fixed and movable glasses of the rear doors (obviously absent from fronts). The bottom end of this drips water down onto a plastic bracket that links the rear door lock to the ancillary carrier plate. That bracket unfortunately directs those drips onto the inside of the carrier plate, and it runs down the plate to the foam seal, which isn't up to resisting this 'stream'.

If you look on ebay for secondhand carriers, and there are photos of both sides, you'll tend to see the watermark of this stream running vertically down from the three rivet holes where the bracket attaches. I've posted a photo of one of mine in a few threads, shouldn't be hard to find.

The fronts can leak too, but it's not so inevitable.

I sealed mine and unless the leak is elsewhere it didn't work, I sealed from the top and round in a U shape and I smeared it smooth to make sure it was all right as well, so dissapointed.

Must be leaking from else where or you haven't done it right
