Cleaning EGR and Throttle Body

Featured Replies

I'm thinking I would like to check and possibly clean my throttle body and EGR.

It's a 2.0l petrol automatic from 2002. Used for lots of short journeys and holiday trips away.

Getting a bit rough on idle. I imagine after so many years it's all getting a bit gunged up.

Has anyone got some good guides/tips on how to do the 2 jobs? Which one would be more important/beneficial?

Thanks in advance.

Many thanks Dean.

A couple of people mentioned if you disconnect the battery first you should be able to disconnect the throttle body without having to reset it after with VCDS.

Is this true?

I believe so but I didn't want to take the chance so I turned the ignition on and got someone to press the pedal so I didn't have to faff around. That's what I'd recommend.
