Bought my VRS 2011 two weeks ago, for the first few days it started first time every time. Now after 2 weeks of driving it now only starts in the morning after 2 or 3 turn overs.

 

Only seems to be from cold, I have a 6 month warranty on the car. Do I give it a bit longer to see if its intermittent or are diesels just generally unhappy starting from cold?

Should start straight away. Take it back and get the battery checked.

cheers cward thats what I was thinking, problem is getting the time to get it checked out of work. Typical teething issues with new (used) car thats probably been sitting for sometime!

Every car doesn't like cold starts, especially diesels but there should be no problems with UK temperatures. If you hadn't said that it was fine in the beginning I might say you didn't allow glowplugs to heat.

So, probably it's the battery. Maybe it's an old one or maybe your habits have caused it to get worse (lots of short trips without allowing it to charge; forgotten headlights etc.).

 

Even in -20 I started my diesel faster than you.

You can always go to Kwikfit or such like and get them to check the battery if you don't have the tools to do it yourself. As it's only a 10 min job to swap them out no reason why the dealer can't do it on a weekend for you.
