2010 Yeti Elegance Door Handles Sticking

Featured Replies

Hi all,

All of the door handles on my 2010 yeti elegance stick in the pulled to open position, meaning the doors don't catch when I shut them. Ive tried wd, silicon and even white grease, they stop it for a couple of days, but no more than that! Anyone else seen this?

Thanks

Had it on my Octavia occasionally.

Slamming the doors usually flicked the handles back in.

Never found a solution for it though. Sorry.

Had the same problem on my first Yeti 2010 took it to the dealer and they sprayed some cleaner on the part that goes into the door at the rear of the handle never a problem again, maybe cleaning rather than lube is the way to go.

I'll take it apart at some point. I could understand the drivers one doing it, its coming up 43k miles, but the back looks like its never been used!

No need to to take it apart, the part that enters the door by the key hole (I know it only has one) spray loads of electrical or brake cleaner on it while holding a rag under it, work it and repeat, it will cure the problem, its due to a build up of gritty dust and road muck.

Nice one I'll try that tomorrow, thanks!

You could try CRC silicon 'dry lube', using the 'straw' after a clean out.

For me a can of it is a must-have.

Here is the product you should use:

You should clean it all up first, the striker plate on the door (the bit that latches around the lock bar on the B pillar) has a black plastic coating on it, that gives it the VW Golf feel/sound when the doors close, this plastic can become bunged/gunged up, i wouldn't just all oil, use isopropyl to clean it all up first, exercising it all.

Then use some new lube and it should loosen up.
