Can the Bolero MIB2 give an SMS alert?

Featured Replies

Often get SMS text messages when driving. Can the latest MIB2 Bolero alert me to this?

Or do I have to keep it on the text message screen all the time?

I get alerts on mine

I just get a v simple envelope symbol appear by the signal and battery indicators regardless of the mode...at least thats how it works on my Golf GTD.

I think the text messaging feature only works on devices that can support it too.

I get the message icon pop up when I get a text, but there's no sound alert.

Thanks for the info guys.

My calls work fine, so I think my mobile must be too 'retro'.....Samsung Galaxy S3....lol

This is quite good:

Not sure if it's an android auto feature but mine announces that there's a new text and asks if I'd like it read out to me.

Doesn't work with iPhones at all.

My MIB1 Bolero didn't do this until I changed phone (as its the phone that drives it). Got a Lumia 930 and under the advanced Bluetooth Setting ticked the box for 'Use an alternative Bluetooth Audio connection for Speech'

Now the radio is interrupted by a 'call' (it isn't really) from 'Cortana' to tell me that a text has been received and do I want to read it, etc, at which point the phone will read it out over the speakers. Also means the Sat Nav instructions from Drive+ will interrupt Radio or Media to issue instructions over the car speakers too.

So although the Head Unit might not support it directly there may be settings in your phone that can achieve the same end result.

What does MIB stand for?

It's German:  Modular Infotainment Baukasten

(~Modular Infotainment Platform in English)
