leather option..

Featured Replies

was just reading Auto express, and apparently, the Fabia vRS is to get leather as an option on the list when buying from new

Hmm, interesting - and I wonder how much they'll charge it out at, and if Seat Surgeons will still get the work?!! Except this time direct from Skoda UK :)

Steve

I bet that wont stain easily or go baggy ;)

Just what are you inferring there Mr Gooch? ;)

Steve

The leather I've got comes with a 3 year warranty anyway, so any problems can be resolved under that.

must resist urge....

OK, I can't.

He's not inferring, he's implying... You're inferring.

I see where you're coming from. However, to infer can mean, for example, to lead another party to a conclusion, or to hint or imply.

So Mr Gooch could be inferring that the leather re-trim service offered by a certain third-pary may not be of a standard expected in a brand-new vehicle?

Steve

Now then Blackadder !!!

Tell you what, i'd never have leather due to the following. If the seats are NOT heated, nightmare in the winter, plus in the Summer they are VERY sticky. Some Mercedes etc have Air conditioned seats to combat this. I had leather in an Escort Ghia X as an option and it was HORRID in the Summer.

I'm saying (as I have done many times before) that leather re-trims are never, repeat, never as good in both erms of fit and finish as Factory leather seats. This is without exception too. I know some of you may run to the defence of the re-trimmers but how many miels have you done in your car since it was done?

My boss has a Jag XJS V12 with about 60k miles on the clock, the car must be a good 15 years old. The leather has crazed a little but still fits the seats perfectly and has not stretched at all.

If it had been cared for propperly the crazing could also have been avoided.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - leather retrims go baggy if you use the car every day.

Hear hear! :D Luckily Ford have addressed this in the new Mondeo and offer climate controlled seats :D

My car was fitted with leather from the dealer by aftermarket company Transcal, i have done 40k now and it still looks as good as the day i got it. the only thing bad about the seats is the integrity of the foam bolster:thumbdwn:

Is that the OEM foam or the foam they pad after-market leather with?

the oem foam

that's why Lotus offer a factory re-trim service for owners, very resonable in price too ;)

Ouch.. Expensive option ;)

Mmmm Mr.Gooch Don't let MJ Interior man hear you say bad things like that :)
