1st time potential Skoda owner

Hi All,

I am currently looking to lease a company car that will really be used for a 100 km day round jounery to work and once a year camping trip somewhere about 1500 km from work. Went to the stealers to look at the A4 avant sport and was kind of drawn to the Superb. Took it for a test drive ( business Style 150 bhp diesel) and the whole family was sold. My only minus point was the seats. They felt a bit too big and not snuggy enough. As a reference my last company car was a A4 sedan tdi and family car was a Seat exeo st sport 210 bhp which I loved and was sad to see go. Test drove the Volvo V60 station and apart from the great seats it did not seem to have the pulling power of the Superb. Given a choice what would be the easiest to live with for the next 4 years. The Audi, Volvo or Superb? Any thoughts.

Maybe you need a longer test drive, perhaps you can persuade the dealer to lend you a car for 1 or 2 days so you can try it out on your regular commute?

I don't think that the Superb seats are too big, but maybe I'm too fat........

If you really need to live with a car for 4 years of commuting, you need to enjoy driving it.

I'd choose the Skoda, good engineering & much less obvious cost-cutting than the average Skoda.

The V60 is stylish for a Volvo but not good to drive & has limited carrying capacity.

As for the Audi, not for me. It may be a UK only stigma, but I'd not want to be thought of as an Audi driver!

HTH, DC.

If youre the one who really enjoys driving and is very jasonplato´ish about road handling, You would go for the A4. If you´r more in to practicality nad want the best bang for the buck, You would go for the Superb. If you are patriotic swede, then You would go for V60.

If I am dead honest, the Seat had miles better handling than the A4. I am not into badge snobbery as long as it looks good and drives well. The V60 is now Chinese if I am not mistaken and my feeling was that the superb was very styllish and well put together much so than the last Superb. I asked the dealer if a sports Superb exists as maybe the seats were better but he said no however google says otherwise. I think I will ask for if I can have the car for a bit longer as suggested. Last question as I understand the VAG has built this on the MQB platform hence would this be simillar to the A6 or A8. Thanks.

VAG MQB platform cars are all transverse engined, whereas Audi A/8 have longitudinal engines. There is another platform (set of building blocks) for Audi, but I can't remember the initials!

PS, Surely the Exeo was just the previous generation A4 with different bonnet & boot pressings, & the A4 Coupe dashboard?

Yes it was the rebadged B7 but with multi-link fully independent front and rear suspension as used on the Audi A6. I had the b8 audi at the same time as the Exeo and IMHO the Exeo won hands down all the tims.

Thanks for the MQB clarification

In my opinion the seats in the superb are one of its best features, extremely comfortable and hold you just right in the corners.

Coming from 15 years of E class ownership I think the Superb seats are much better than the Mercedes and one of the E classes I owned even had dynamic seats as well!

The last E class continually gave me a dead right leg after a very short run, this has not reoccurred in the Superb.

Thank you all. Looks like I will pull the trigger and get myself one.

Transverse stuff is MQB, Longitudinal stuff is MLB. VW's small stuff like the Up-exclamation-mark, Mii and Citigo are NSF (new small family platform).
