Wipers switch to intermittent when vehicle is stationary.

Featured Replies

Wipers on our Fabia stop & switch to intermittent instantly upon coming to a standstill.

We've had heavy rain pretty much all day here, & I had a load of running around to do with lots of stop start in traffic.

Now in light rain it's quite a cool feature, but in a downpour it's positively dangerous as the instant the car comes to a stop the wipers stop & switch to intermittent, but are then slow turning back on when pulling away!!!!!

I thought there would be a way of turning the feature off in the Bolero, but there isn't. Mirrors & Wipers only has rear wiper in reverse on/off.

Does eveyones Fabia III operate like this? Can it be turned off with VCDS?

It is possible to turn this on/off in VCDS in the mk2, so should be in the mk3 aswel.

Is it because you have the intermittent/auto setting selected?

If you push the stalk up to constant they shouldn't stop.

Mine does the same on normal wiper speed when stopped at lights. It could be they are linked to the stop/start technology. They have always gone back to normal speed when pulling away Joe

a number of new cars do this, not just VAG, my i20 does it as well

I assume it is to prevent wear to the wipers on a dry screen if there is little rain when you are stationary

I think that if you change to a lower/higher speed it assumes normal operation, it will slow down in the next stop again though... personally I find it quite useful..

Its not linked imto stop start, the mk2's do it without stop start.

My brothers 55 plate Audi A3 even does it.

It can be turned on/off on VCDS

My Octavia Mk2 did this. Only car I have had this on. I thought it was pretty cool.
