Hi there, the part you have pictured isn't normally the cause of a loose gearshift. It's normally the universal type joint, number 32 in your diagram pic.

Obviously that's not to say the bush in the joint or the socket at the top won't wear. A full strip down would give you the answer. Not a difficult job to do.

In my case it cant be that because i already replaced the whole rod going into the gearbox

I feel that the looseness is more in the 24 and 40 aereas. How can i remove the number 40 i just push it with a screwdriver and it unclips or what ?

Yeah it should just unclip. There is a circlip inside the socket of no.40 as shown by the side in the real pic. It may well be rusted away.

The bush in the pivot part at the bottom could well be deteriorated but good luck finding a new one! And let me know if you do please haha.

When I had my 96 plate Felicia L&K I too suffered from a sloppy gear change.

Mine had the differently designed joint though towards the gearbox end but I replaced that and then found a set of bushes for the other joint. I think I got them from my local dealer but they were an old Skoda dealer and they had a load of Felicia parts left over in stock.

It felt much better with all new bushes.

I also replaced the rubber mounts 14 and 19 as they were very perished.

Thanks for the info guys. Number 24 bushes are fine they are not torn or damaged. I think im gonna buy the 40 part but i fear that its not the problem. Right now its very loose. When the gearstick rod is off the car and no.40 is just hanging there, i can turn it around like a soup bowl with no resistance at all ? Is it supposed to be like that or there should be some resistance ?

Is there any play with it? It should pivot relatively freely but it shouldn't be able to wiggle.

Can't see much from your pic, it looks to be in alright condition.

Its loose and wiggles around very easily

Yeah it'll be worn out then. You'll need to check the ball it goes on to on the under side of part 1 as well. If that's excessively worn then a new no.40 will only make a difference for a short time.
