1.9 tdi bxe replaced with bkc

Featured Replies

hi all

unfortunately a few months ago my bxe decided to fail (hole in block)

i sourced a bkc engine complete with pump and injectors, from a 2006 vw jetta and got it fitted

I have noticed that my mpg is down now to about 42 where it was previously over 50

there is no faults stored on the car

i am just wondering if this is something that a software update in a main dealership would help

or has anyone any other ideas.

i have changed the fuel filter

checked heater plugs and loom

changed air filter

the egr was cleaned at the time of the engine replacement.

would a software update affect the injectors

thanks in advance

I think these engines are very similar, the injectors and ancilliaries appear the same from what i have read so the maps 'should' be the same.

Do you have access to VCDS to check the timing? Also would be worth logging a few things to see if there aren't any obvious problems
