Hello to all,

recently my 57 1.9 tdi Octavia estate developed a problem all of a sudden.

the door open light came on, on the dashboard, all the doors were closed, i also noticed the electric window switches on the drivers door stopped working also the elec mirrors and i am unable to use central locking from this door. I can lock all other doors from passenger side with key but not the drivers door, also the electric window on passenger side will work from passenger switch.

After having a diagnosis the mechanic suggested the drivers side window motor was at fault, I've sourced and fitted a new one with same serial numbers, the driver side window switch worked until i started the engine then back to square one, and the problems are still there.

Now I'm suspecting the wiring in the drivers door?

any ideas are appreciated. :(

My suspicion would be the wiring where it enters the door near the hinge. Breaks in the wiring here are not unknown.

Omg just pulled the rubber wire sleeve back and there it was, 3 tiny snapped wires, I will report back on Tuesday when I will have time to repair, hopefully that's the issue :-)

It was indeed the three wires which had broke under the rubber sleeve where the door hinges. They were reconnected with solder and shrink wrap, voila it all works, very happy now :-)
