Pre-facelift driving light

Featured Replies

About a month ago had yellow 'bulb' warning light appear as well as 'off side lamp fault' instruction on

maxi-dot. Replaced blackened H7 bulb but have had yellow 'bulb' warning light come on from time to time, since. Exterior bulb is OK.

Used my Gendan Max-Scan to read and erase codes but the warning yellow 'bulb' still comes on randomly. It was illuminated for a 7 mile journey, left car for 2 hours+ and it didn't come on again.

Don't want to visit dealer, despite still under warranty, as they're bound to say 'bulbs are not warranty' and try to charge me.

Any suggestions?

I still have not tried it myself but I have a parking aid light on and

folks on here suggested removing a fuse. One at a time, number

13 and number 19 in the fusebox at the R/H end of the dashboard

and the one I will try first fuse number 8 under the bonnet.let me

know what happens.

I'm confused.

The only H7 bulb on the pre-facelift Yeti is the front FOG light bulb.

The Daylight Running Light bulb, which is in the lower part of the same unit is a P13W bulb.

Exactly which bulb has failed on your car?

You need to stand at the front of the car to check.

I get an occasional blown bulb fault indicated on one of my rear bulbs, but a quick tap on the light unit restores full functionality. I've even replaced the bulb but it still happens. When the weather gets better I might clean all the contacts.

Parking aid?

Do you mean you get the side lights on one side illuminating?

If so, it is because when you turn the engine off the indicator stalk is still "on" for that side.

If you cancel the indicators before you turn off the ignition it won't happen.

I used to get a bulb failure light when I plugged in my led equipped trailer but it seemed like it 'learnt' over time and would only come on after an extended period, sometimes not at all........bit odd.

Come on BRISKODA folks, let me have your suggestions. Graham, it WAS the fog lamp H7 bulb-the Maxi-dot said off side bulb, not sidelamp.

I've re-checked the connections and deleted the fault code with my Gendan Max-scan but the warning light still comes on randomly. Sometimes just switching the ignition off and on puts it out.

Any ideas, please.

I must admit I'm a bit confused here - As I understand it (I'm assuming that like me you have Xenon headlamps) - there are side light bulbs, daylight running bulbs and Fog lamp bulbs. As Graham has suggested have you examined the daylight running bulb?

Yes, have you changed the bulb?

Doesn't sound like it.

I would suggest you check all bulbs on the off-side.

Why do people think that deleting a fault code will "cure" a problem, when they haven't changed the most obvious part?

Graham, yes I did replace the H7 bulb as mentioned in my initial post. All lamps work fine.

A bit harsh suggesting that I just cleared the fault without changing the bulb - not like you.

I did replace the H7 bulb as mentioned in my initial post.

AIUI that is the foglight bulb. Have you examined the daylight running bulb (which is in the same housing as the foglamp)? This is not the same as the sidelight which is in the headlight.

Jim

Sorry for being harsh but if the fault light is still coming on then there is obviously a bulb that is "misbehaving", so just deleting the fault is not curing the problem, is it?

You have said yourself that the display only says "off-side light" therefore you will have to check ALL the lights on that side. I can't remember whether it adds front or rear to the display, but I know I get an occasional display for one of my rear lights. When I check it is the bottom of the 2 bulbs, but a quick "tap" on the unit and it comes on again. I've now changed the bulb twice, so I presume it is the lamp unit itself. One of these days I'll take it apart a have a fiddle!
