OK guys before you start saying its not worth it etc etc lol I have a 1.9 tdi from a mk3 golf and from research they look like the Octavia tdi non vrs model. Have any one ever tried to put one of dose lumps in a fabia. I am just interested if it will fit as long as mounting points. Eletrics and other mechanical stuff my brother will take care of them he is a good mechanic tuner.

1.9 TDI engine codes that have been OEM fitted on mk1 Fabia are ATD/AXR. vRS came with ASZ/BLT. You'd find these engines on 2001 or later VWs. MK3 Golf has been discontinued since '98 IIRC, when MK4 has been released. Mounts and internally, the engines have huge differences as well. As wiredsoftware previously said, you should buy a different car. You will need the front suspension, wheel hubs. gearbox, driveshafts, instrument panel, immo and pretty much everything replaced, even if the engine will fit somehow.

I already have an engine with a mechanical diesel pump came out of a mk3 tdi the early ones. So wireing its pretty easy I am not from the UK I am from Malta hehe

It may not have the mounting points in the end of the block as it's from a mk3 but the bell housing would bolt up to to the 02r gearbox you would need to use the right flywheel and clutch too. Guessing it's a mechanical pump so wiring would be simple enough but rpm counter won't work.

Fuel filler and pickup is different and exhaust. Springs for heavier engine etc etc. Anything is possible tho I had a 2.0 16v xe in my felicity. Just depends how much effort your willing to put in.

This is just a small project as a hobby that in the end will be a pretty nice economical and cheap go run furby. The rev counter is just a small thing. So I can keep the 1.4 mpi gearbox just change clutch kit and flywheel?

MPI gearbox won't mate to a 1.9 diesel.

No you need the 02r gearbox the mpi gearbox is different.

The driveshaft and gear change cables are different too.

Absolute nightmare of a job. Not worth it.

Does the 02r gearbox come with the push and pull cable system like the stock fabia gearbox? Or else will need to make an adaptor plate

I think you've mis-understood... It's not a small project and by the sounds of things, no matter how economical and cheap it is afterwards, the cost of doing the swap will negate that for a fair while!
